I visited Olympic National Park in Washington State last year, and the subalpine meadows on its tall peaks drew us in. The open tree-less spaces, the snow-covered mountain heights in the distance, the ground hugging grasses and forbs. I would not trade this vast panorama for any of the closed humid spaces down below.
This is a place where your soul can soar.

Used to live out there...loved it an miss it so much that I often say to my husband, "you will lose me to no man, but the West....?"
We hike a lot, and for people who like nature, nothing beats the West Coast, where you have beaches, mountains, deserts, grasslands, forests all within driving distance to one another. I hope to move that direction sometime.
